Comments: Very useful tool. The worst thing is losing track of it when it is needed! I like the adjustable beam, saves on batteries to use it on lower power, but nice & bright when required. |

CONS BEST USES Comments: I have owned this headlamp going on two years now. I have tried many red flashlights over the years but I have found them either too bright or too dim for telescope work. This headlamp provides the perfect subdued light for seeing in the dark. Also works great when viewing star charts. It is great when taking down equipment and both hands are full. The last thing you want is to be fumbling around with a flashlight and risk dropping some valuable equipment. Changing around eyepieces on a telescope is a breeze. The beam can be adjusted for a wide beam or a narrow beam. My only complaint is that the adjustment for lowering the intensity of the beam is very sensitive and there is not a lot of gradations to work with. It is basically two levels high beam and low beam. Where I live the dew moves in rather quickly but I am not had any trouble with moisture getting nto the headlamp. So if it is not waterproof I will vouch for it being at least water resistent. Comments: I bought this because I love the Photon Freedom lights so much so I thought I would try this. I had previously used an energizer brand head lamp, but the battery case broke after me dropping it too much. I prefered that one for it's light weight and ability to switch from 2 focused beams to 2 narrow beams to all 4 beams to red beams at the click of a button. I don't see that ability on this new Photon Fusion light. I also don't like how heavy it is and the head strap. Going to look silly walking around with it on, although I guess most people won't see it since it will be dark. It does appear to be very well constructed and the ability to make it into a standing light is nice, but I doubt I will personally use it that way much. Also for storing it is much bulkier than my energizer brand headlamp. Pricier too! |

Comments: The Momentory switch broke off after 4 months use. Too small and cramped to resolder in a field enviroment. Wires too fine to rig a bypass switch. Elastic band not strong enough to suport on head continusly. It is bright enough to perform many tasks. |

Comments: The design is good but it has some issues: The on-off switch is very easily activated leading to keeping the inside of my pack well illuminated but otherwise wasting a set of batteries. A secondary switch would be nice. For now I am removing the lamp which leaves me with two pieces to keep track of. It might be better if the rubber bumper/light ring were glued on. Bob |

Comments: I bought a red Fusion headlamp after using a white version for many years. I wanted the red light for retaining night vision while reading astronomical charts while using my telescope. The new Fusion is as solid and well built as my old one, but the operation of the LED-controlling chip is not exactly the same. For my purposed it'd be better if the new chip offered preset levels of brightness, rather than a continuous range which always starts at the brightest setting. Otherwise the red Fusion will suit me well. I'll just have to block the beam with my hand when switching it on, while I ramp the brightness down from the max (which is much too bright for astronomy) to near the minimum level. |

Comments: I heat my house with firewood so I often go out to get wood in the dark. This headlamp has been a real asset for this or any task where you need light and your hands free. I hardly notice I have it on it is so comfortable. |

Comments: I mostly use it for trips to the bathroom at night. Red light is much pleasanter at night than white and brightness is adjustable - a big bonus when you do not want to wake up totally. Three AA batteries last a long time, but they are somewhat heavy. The switch-on button glows in the darkness. When the batteries run down, the lamp switches between red and yellow light. So rechargeable batteries probably would not be ruined as happens in unregulated lamps. |

Comments: I really like the stability of this light. It was easy to set up and adjust and the light is super bright and is long lasting. I have not experienced any cons. I would reccomend it whole heartedly. |
